Strategy

Groningen Airport Eelde is the airport for the region, but also of the region. The airport sees it as its task to facilitate the region optimally. Economically, infrastructurally and socially. As well as possible. No more and no less.

Leading role in the region

Aviation infrastructure in the Netherlands is scarce. Groningen Airport Eelde is an important facility for reaching and opening up the Northern Netherlands and thus important for the business climate of (Northern) Holland. That aviation has to become more sustainable is beyond dispute. In this, we are taking a pioneering role that suits the region. As part of Europe's first hydrogen region, we are committed to the application of hydrogen in aviation. We do this together with numerous partners from the northern Netherlands, and aim to be Europe's most sustainable airport in the field of hydrogen by 2030. We are also working towards a future in which we can facilitate batttery-electric and SAF-powered aircraft

Energy Hub
Groningen Airport Eelde is an Energy Hub and testing ground that -together with companies, governments and educational institutes- is working on a sustainable, emission-free future. We thus play an important role within the energy transition in the Northern Netherlands.
