Forbidden objects
When travelling, you are not allowed to take just about anything on the plane. Before departure, read carefully what is and what is not allowed.
THIS IS NOT ALLOWED
Firearms and shooting weapons
Any object capable of firing a projectile or inflicting injury, or appearing to be capable of doing so, including;
- All firearms
- Replica and imitation firearms
- Components of firearms (excluding telescopic viewing devices & sights)
- Air pistols, windguns and pellet guns
- Signal pistols
- Starting pistols
- All types of toy firearms
- BB guns (ball bearing guns)
- Industrial screw and nail guns
- Crossbows
- Catapults
- Harpoon & harpoon guns
- Butcher guns
- Shock or scare devices e.g. cattle prods, ballistic guided energy weapons (taser)
- Firearm-style lighters
Pointed/sharp weapons & sharp objects
Items with points or cutting edges capable of inflicting injury, including:
- Axes & choppers
- Arrows and throwing darts
- Climbing irons
- Harpoons and spears
- Ice axes & ice picks
- Ice skates
- Knives or stilettos with blades of any length
- Knives, including ceremonial knives, with a blade of more than 6 cm, made of metal or any other material strong enough to be used as a weapon
- Meat cleavers
- Machetes
- Open razors (excluding safety or disposable razors where the blades are in a holder)
- Sabres, swords & sword sticks
- Scapels
- Scissors with blades more than 6 cm in length
- Ski poles and walking sticks
- Throwing stars
- Tools that can be used as stabbing or cutting weapons, e.g. drills and drill irons, Stanley knives, tool knives, saws of all types, screwdrivers, crowbars, hammers, pliers, nut and socket spanners, soldering lamps.
Blunt objects
Any blunt object capable of inflicting injury, including;
- Baseball bats and softball bats
- Hard or pliable bats or sticks, e.g. nightstick bats, blackjack bats
- Weapons sticks
- Cricket bats
- Golf sticks
- Hockey sticks
- Lacrosse sticks
- Kayak and canoe paddles
- Skateboards
- Billiard, snooker and pool sticks
- Rods
- Equipment for martial arts, e.g. punching sticks, batons, flails, numchucks, kubatons, kubasaunts
Explosive and inflammable substances
Any explosive or highly combustible substances that pose a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the safety of the aircraft or property, including:
- Ammunition
- Blasting caps
- Detonators & fuses
- Detonators & explosives
- Mines & other explosive military material
- Grenades of all types
- Gas & gas cylinders, e.g. butane, propane, acetylene, oxygen- in large quantities
- Fireworks or signal fire in all forms (including firecrackers and toy gun caps)
- Other than safety matches
- Smoke grenades or cartridges
- Flammable liquid fuel, e.g. petrol, diesel oil, lighter fuel, alcohol, ethanol
- Paint spray cans
- Turpentine & paint thinner
- Alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (14% proof)
Chemical and toxic substances
Any chemical or toxic substances that pose a risk to the health of passengers and crew or to the safety of the aircraft or property, including;
- Acids and alkalis, e.g. 'wet' batteries that may leak
- Corrosive or bleaching agents, e.g. mercury, chlorine
- Disabling substances in aerosols, e.g. mace, pepper spray, tear gas
- Radioactive material, e.g. medical or commercial isotopes
- Poison
- Infectious or biohazardous material, e.g. contaminated blood, bacteria and viruses
- Material liable to spontaneous ignition or combustion
- Fire extinguishers
The following items may also not be carried in checked baggage
- Explosives, including detonators, fuses, grenades, mines and explosives
- Gases, including propane, butane
- Flammable liquids, e.g. petrol, methanol
- Flammable solids and reactive substances, including magnesium, firelighters, fireworks, signal flares
- Oxidisers and organic peroxides, including bleach, body repair kits
- Toxic or infectious substances, including rat powder, contaminated blood
- Radioactive material, including medical or commercial isotopes
- Corrosive material, including mercury, vehicle batteries
- Components of vehicle fuel systems that have contained fuel
Samsung Galaxy Note 7: It is not permitted to take a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with you on a flight from Groningen Airport Eelde. This applies to both hand baggage and hold baggage.
