Need assistance?
Groningen Airport Eelde offers special facilities to disabled and disabled travellers to enable them to travel comfortably. Below is how you can get assistance with transport at the airport, where the facilities are and which items require special attention.

Need assistance? Apply in time!
If you need assistance, it is important to let us know in good time. When booking your flight, make your wishes known to the travel agent or airline company. The request must be received by your travel agent or airline no later than 48 hours before the time of departure (or arrival) (if 48 hours notice is not given, we cannot guarantee that the services below can be provided). We will then ensure that assistance is available (e.g. wheelchair service) when you arrive at the airport.
Counter at the airport
You can report to Groningen Airport Handling for assistance. If you need assistance upon arrival or departure at the airport, you can report via the intercom near the pay machine at car park P1 or at the pay machine near the bus stop. You should be present at Groningen Airport Eelde at least 2 hours before the departure of the flight concerned.
Parking spaces for the disabled
Special disabled parking spaces are available in car park P1. We ask you to place the disabled card clearly visible behind the windscreen. If you have reserved a parking space at P1 online, you can park at the budget rate of P3. To do so, please send the following documents, stating your parking reservation number, to info@gae.nl after returning from your trip; a copy of your identity card, a copy of your disabled card, a copy of your flight ticket. Do not forget to mention your bank details. You will receive the difference back as soon as possible.
Terminal facilities
Groningen Airport Eelde's terminal is easily accessible for the disabled and less able-bodied. The airport has several disabled toilets, wide entrance doors and all facilities are at ground level.
Special conditions
Airlines sometimes apply special conditions. For example, air transport of wheelchairs with wet batteries is usually not allowed. This is because these fall under hazardous materials. There are also sometimes regulations on the dimensions of wheelchairs. When air transporting a wheelchair, it must also be reported to the airline on time, often no later than 72 hours before departure. Be well informed in advance by your travel agent or airline company and consult their website(s).

Wheelchairs
If necessary, wheelchairs are available for use at the airport and you can use special lifts when boarding and disembarking. Of course, you can bring your own collapsible wheelchair (without battery) on your trip free of charge. We advise you to inform the travel agency or airline in good time before departure that you wish to use these facilities (often no later than 72 hours before departure). We also ask you to check in on time (at least 2 hours before departure) in connection with preparing the wheelchair for travel.
