Security
Go through security well prepared
You would prefer to get through the security check as quickly as possible. You can make sure of that yourself by being well prepared. Pack your luggage well and make sure you have the right travel papers and a valid travel document. That is your own responsibility.
Checklist for passengers
To get through security as smoothly as possible, read this checklist:
- You can only bring liquids that come in a container of no more than 100 ml. Put all your liquids and gels in a transparent bag. This bag may remain in your hand baggage at the security check.
- Laptops, tablets and other electronics should be placed in your hand baggage. You no longer need to remove these from your hand baggage.
- Empty the pockets of your trousers, jumper or vest and put everything in the designated bin. Your pockets should be completely empty for the scan, so take everything out of your pockets.
- Take off your jacket, jacket and ankle-high shoes and put them in a bin.
Through the scanner
When you go through security, you always have to go through the security scanner. This is very quick. Stand on the footsteps, stand still for 3 seconds with your arms in the right position and let the scanner do its work. Your outside is scanned and it is analysed by a computer.
Extra check
If the computer detects an object on your skin via the scanner, you will be manually checked by a security officer. It doesn't always happen, but you can still basically be searched all over your body. This is not fun, of course, but this is how we keep our airport a safe place for you and all other passengers.
The scanner's sensors are at a fixed height. Therefore, not everyone can go through the security scanner. A different procedure applies to wheelchair users and small children. In that case, the security officer checks manually.
Travelling alone with children
You cannot travel alone with a minor child (up to 18 years of age). For this, you need a permission statement from the parent(s), guardian or another person who has custody of the child. This rule applies to prevent child abduction. Read more about travelling with children via Groningen Airport Eelde here.
