Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria has an awful lot to offer. Authentic villages, endless beaches, clear nights and phenomenal landscapes. Partly due to its volcanic origins, nature is very diverse. Many mountains, caves and valleys adorn the island. At the same time, the Canary Island is characterised by cosiness. Besides the bustling capital Las Palmas, the island boasts quaint villages, such as Ayacata and Gáldar. You can also go dolphin spotting and last but not least: sunshine guaranteed! What are you waiting for?

Gran Canaria is also an excellent family holiday destination. Both young and older children have a great time on the island. There are many child-friendly hotels and flats, where energetic animation teams are present for fun daytime programmes. But of course you can also go out on your own. A day out together to a volcanic beach or on an adventure in the surrounding area. Cocodrilo Park is one of our favourite family outings during a holiday in Gran Canaria. Besides, it's an island full of fun. Shop, go to a market or stroll along the most pleasant boulevards where you can spend hours on the terrace. In short: something for everyone.

Departing from Groningen Airport Eelde, you land in Las Palmas - the capital of the island. And that's convenient, because a visit to this atmospheric city should not be missed during a holiday to Gran Canaria. There is so much to see and do in Las Palmas that a long city trip is a good plan. Hop on a hop-on-hop-off bus and get to know all the capital's highlights (tip: book before departure your online cheaper tickets). And while you're there, pay a visit to the historic La Vegueta district. Here you will find the most impressive buildings, including Columbus' house and the Casa de Colón.
