Checklist! Things to do in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is a popular sun destination. Popular, of course, because of the year-round sunshine. So even in winter it is good to be here. In addition, Gran Canaria has some incredibly beautiful beaches.

Wondering what you can do in Gran Canaria? We list the must-do's.

Enjoying culture in Las Palmas

Sniffing culture may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you go on holiday to Gran Canaria, but it is certainly possible! Especially in the capital Las Palmas.
The old centre is a beautiful part. You imagine yourself in Gran Canaria's past.
You can enjoy breathtaking views from the cathedral and enjoy delicious restaurants.
Besides culture, you can also find a cosy beach in Las Palmas. Check out the cute beach houses and stroll along the promenade.

Discover the villages of Teror and Galdár

Besides beautiful beaches and blue sea, Gran Canaria also has many villages. There are a huge number of them, so we select two that are definitely worth visiting.

The heart of Gáldar is Plaza de Santiago. One or more visits to the delicious tapas bars are definitely worthwhile. In addition, the island's oldest dragon tree is also a must-see during your visit to this village.
Teror is a short distance from Galdár. Among other things, visit the basilica here, where an ancient statue of Mary is kept. Taking a stroll through Calle Real de la Plaza is also highly recommended.

Stroll through the dunes of Maspalomas

You can also experience a slice of Africa in Spain. The dunes of Maspalomas are like walking in the Sahara. The sand dunes sometimes grow more than 10 metres high. The constant wind also makes them constantly change shape. How cool is that!

Soaking up the sun on Amadores beach

Gran Canaria has an awful lot of beaches. One of our favourites is Playa de Amadores. It lies in a small bay, with little wind and surrounded by rocks. In addition, the beach has white sand and very clear seawater. What more could you want?
