Scandinavian Mountains

This destination on the border between Norway and Sweden is a versatile snow destination for winter sports in Norway's (Trysil) and Sweden's (Sälen) largest ski resorts, for example.

Until recently it was - especially in winter - a difficult region to reach, but recently the new Scandinavian Mountains Airport (SCR) opened, making this 'hidden gem' a lot more accessible. Like Groningen Airport Eelde, SCR is a small and convenient airport. From there, you can reach Sälen, Sweden's largest ski resort, within half an hour and Trysil, Norway's largest ski resort, within 45 minutes.

Both ski regions are ideal for young and old, couples and families. Sälen in Sweden is perfect if the children are still young, Trysil in Norway is a great location if the children are older. In Norway and Sweden, a skiing holiday is much more of a joint family event. In the morning, the children go to ski lessons and the parents go skiing together, in the afternoon they have dinner together, ski or go out and do activities such as husky and snowmobile safaris. You won't find such a versatile winter (sports) holiday in the Alps, but you will in the Scandinavian Mountains. In Scandinavia, a winter holiday is real quality-time for the whole family.
